Healthy home made Jam
An activity we did for the letter J, creating some delicious home made jam. Refined sugar free!
Strawberry Jam
Ingredients
-4 cups of washed and cut strawberries
-1/2 cup of honey (rice malt syrup, Maple or other alternative for vegan)
-3 Tbsp of chia seeds
-A squeeze of lemon juice
Method
-Put washed and cut strawberries into a saucepan, add honey and combine over a medium heat.
-Once strawberries are tender, add a squeeze of lemon juice, pour mixture into blender, blitz smooth and return to saucepan.
-On a low heat, add chia seeds and mix until thickens.
-Once it’s thickened enough add hot jam to your hot sterilised jar. Put the lid on and leave to cool.
Mixed berry Jam
Ingredients
-2 cups strawberries, washed and cut
-1 cup blackberries
-2/3 cup raspberries
-1 cup blueberries
-4 tbsp chia seeds
-Squeeze of lemon juice
-1/2 cup honey (rice malt syrup, maple or alternative for vegan)
Method
-Put berries into a saucepan, add honey and combine over a medium heat.
-Once berries are tender, add a squeeze of lemon juice, pour mixture into blender, blitz smooth and return to saucepan.
-On a low heat, add chia seeds and mix until thickens.
-Once it’s thickened enough add hot jam to your hot sterilised jar. Put the lid on and leave to cool.
These are both so tasty but my personal favourite is the mixed berry!
