DIY I Spy Jar

Image
Being supportive of children while they explore their emotions, especially when they are overwhelmed, is so important in teaching them emotional intelligence. Looking past their struggles as behaviour and finding the cause of what is troubling their precious minds, to help them by talking through, being understanding and offering them advice and guidance as well as assurance that what they are feeling is okay. Building that trust and connection with children is everything and helps their wellbeing and growth mindset. Providing them with resources to help them feel grounded is a fantastic way to assist them through their development. Not only will this I Spy jar assist in calming but as a game it’s also a lot of fun. A great addition to a calm corner or calm basket. Wild Reed Diffuser

Image
This beautiful reed diffuser would not only make a lovely addition to your home but a lovely handmade gift for loved ones and it’s very simple to create! What you’ll need Sticks Glass bottle with a narrow opening 1/2cup Sweet almond oil 200 drops Essential oil of choice Decorations of choice How to make it Sterilise your sticks by placing them on a lined tray, in the oven on low for 45minutes. Once they have cooled, remove the outer bark by sanding for a smooth finish or using a peeler or knife for a more ‘wild’ look. Add your almond oil to the glass bottle, followed by the essential oil and mix them together.  You can add more essential oil depending on your preference.  Put your sticks in the glass bottle, turn them upside down every day or so. Replace the sticks when they have become too saturated and no longer work properly.  Decorate your bottle however you desire. If you make one I would love to see! Welcome to the Mindful in March challenge!  First thing first - What is the Mindful in March challenge? The idea behind this is to help guide families and educators on how to teach their children to practice mindfulness. How to tune in to themselves in the moment and explore their senses, emotions, gratitude, surroundings...the beautiful details of life that often fade as children grow to a fast-paced world that forgets how to just be and find that inner peace. Through teaching children to practice mindfulness, they can harness techniques that work for them and carry these through their development. Not only is this challenge designed to slow down and have fun with it but it’s also a wonderful opportunity for families to harbour positive experiences together and hopefully find a few techniques they can regularly use after the challenge has been completed. You will notice that with some activities, I have included questions. This is to help get you into the habit of connecti
