DIY Beeswax Wraps

There’s a lot of tutorials for making beeswax wraps which is absolutely wonderful. I love seeing people switching to sustainable solutions so I thought we’d share the method we use to make ours.  This method eliminates the need to grate beeswax.  What you’ll need 100% cotton fabric (light shades work best) Beeswax sheets Baking paper Baking tray Scissors The How-to Pre-wash your fabric, once it’s dry cut the shapes you wish to make into wraps. Iron if really wrinkled. Preheat the oven to 100°c and line your tray with baking paper.  Put your fabric on the lined tray. Cut the beeswax into strips and then cut those strips into smaller rough rectangles or squares or alternatively tear your wax sheet into small pieces.  Scatter some of your beeswax pieces evenly on the fabric. Put it in the oven just until the wax has melted then take it out. Sand Play Dough Recipe

This is a play dough we hadn’t tried to make before and I am a fan of it now! We’ve had many play dough play sessions with ocean creatures and shells but there’s something about having sand and water colours that made it a lot more magical.  So here’s how we made our sand play dough.  Ingredients 2 cups flour 1 cup salt 2 cups boiling water 2 tbsp sea salt 4 tbsp cream of tartar 2 tbsp oil 3/4cups sand  Method Combine, flour, salt, cream of tartar and sand into a bowl. Add the water and sea salt together into a snall saucepan and boil, dissolving the sea salt. This will help give your play dough a bit of an ocean scent. Add oil and boiled salt water into your dry ingredients and mix. Add a little extra water if needed to get the right consistency with the sand.  Once it starts to cool, start kneading until your play dough is smooth.  We created a batch of light teal play dough to pair with our sand play dough which made for beautiful ocean play. For this just create using the same rec
